Jaylen Brown believes making the All-NBA team is the least of his concerns. He’s only hoping to make the finals.
This season, Jaylen Brown has embraced a new attitude, focusing on becoming the greatest version of himself while ignoring the surrounding noise.
However, there are occasions when let that noise in might be beneficial.
Exhibit A came Thursday night at TD Garden, when Brown led the Boston Celtics to a 126-110 victory over the Indiana Pacers and a 2-0 series lead in the Eastern Conference Finals, only 24 hours after being left off the 2023-24 All-NBA Teams.
Brown originally downplayed the snub following the game, but it was evident that something fired him up in Game 2.
“I mean, we’re two games away from the Finals
, so honestly, I don’t have the time to give an f—,” Brown remarked when asked if losing out on All-NBA honors provided him with more incentive.
When questioned subsequently if he felt “underrated” in comparison to his classmates, he eventually admitted the truth.
“I watch guys get praised and anointed who I feel are half as talented as me on either side of the ball,” Brown responded. “But at this point in my life, I simply embrace it. It comes with being who I am and what I believe in, and I’m not about to change that.”
“I just came out, and I’m glad for the opportunity to get onto the dance every night, put my best foot forward, and improve year after year. “Whether people like it or not, it is what it is.”
