Bootle Land National League North Midfielder

Bootle has signed Sean Williams, an experienced midfielder from Warrington Town.
The Bucks have moved quickly to sign the 32-year-old, whose exit from his former club was announced on Thursday night.

Williams made 203 appearances for the Yellows in two periods, after a time with now-National League side Altrincham.

He created history last season by scoring Warrington Town’s first goal in the National League North, a 4-0 win over Southport on the season’s opening weekend

However, the central midfielder’s exit from Cantilever Park was revealed after he failed to agree on a new contract.

Williams discussed his transfer to the NPL West Division side, saying: “When the gaffer called me up, it made me feel a million bucks. He genuinely cared about me, and that meant a lot to me.

“I’m aiming to improve the team’s performance by demonstrating what I’m capable of, and then perhaps people will assess me later in the season.

“I want promotion and I only ever come to win games, so getting promoted is where I stand at.”

Williams joins Mick McGraa’s squad as his third acquisition of the summer, following former Marine defender Jonny Spittle and Workington attacker Lewis Reilly.

Last season, the Bucks finished fourth in the NPL West Division, but lost to eventual play-off champions Prescot Cables in the semi-finals.
