Nottingham Forest are currently looking to buy a player who has been likened to N’Golo Kante, and his club is willing to trade him.

As the transfer window begins, Nottingham Forest may soon reach a £26 million deal.
Nottingham Forest wants Florentino Luis.
According to Record in Portugal, Nottingham Forest wants to recruit Benfica No. 61 Florentino Luis this summer.
According to the Portuguese news site, Benfica wants to sell the 24-year-old in order to acquire finances to keep Joao Neves, who is coveted by Manchester United.
Benfica are thought to have already found a successor for Luis in Leandro Barreiro.
According to the Record, Benfica wants €30 million (£26 million) to sell Lobito this summer, a cost Nottingham Forest may only be able to pay if sales are completed, pursuant to the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR).
Luis made 45 appearances for Benfica in the 2023/24 season, scoring no goals from defensive midfield and receiving ten yellow cards.
Nuno Espirito Santo may sign his own N’Golo Kante. Nottingham Forest supporters may be unfamiliar with Luis, a lesser-known footballer.
If that’s the case, a comparison to a more well-known player would be useful, as the Nottingham Forest target has been compared to some of the greatest defensive midfielders around.
First, Joao Tralhao, a former Benfica junior coach, likened Luis to Claude Makelele and Casemiro, telling Goal: “He has the talent and quality to play in elite teams.” Remember when Real Madrid had the Galacticos? They needed someone to balance the team, and Makelele was essential.
“More recently, Casemiro performed that function, allowing Ronaldo, Modric, and Benzema to attack. Florentino possesses these qualities.”
Furthermore, the Mirror once compared Luis to 2018 World Cup champion Kante, who was perhaps the finest defensive midfielder in the world during his time at Leicester City and then Chelsea.
