Rodney Peete, a former quarterback for USC football, will get into the Hall of Fame. Peete will be inducted into the California Sports Hall of Fame in 2024, it has been revealed.

Peete played baseball, basketball, and football in high school in Arizona and was an exceptional athlete. He took a scholarship offer to play quarterback at USC, where he made his playing debut in the midst of his rookie year in 1985.

The next three seasons at USC saw Peete throw for over 2,000 yards. With a 130.9 passer rating at the end of his career, he completed 58.3 percent of his throws for 8,225 yards, 54 touchdowns, and 42 touchdowns.

He had his best year at USC in 1988, finishing with 2,812 yards, 18 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions while completing 62.1% of his throws. He was significantly ahead of future Hall of Fame quarterback Troy Aikman, a quarterback for UCLA, even though he finished second in the Heisman Trophy vote behind Barry Sanders. He was a first-team All-American and the Pac-10 Offensive Player of the Year. Additionally, he was the recipient of the esteemed Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award, which is granted to the nation’s best upperclassman quarterback.

Peete’s baseball career at USC also included All-Pac-10 recognition. Three MLB clubs would select him in his collegiate draft, but he chose to play in the NFL. Peete was a sixth-round selection who was used by six different NFL clubs.

The Rams Hall of Fame running back Marshall Faulk, former Lakers champion A.C. Green, sports agent Scott Boras, and sports photographer Andrew B. Bernstein are the other four members of the California Sports Hall of Fame Class of 2024.

Peete has also been honored with inductions into the USC Athletics Hall of Fame and the Arizona Sports Hall of Fame.
