Juan Soto of the Yankees Talks About His Plans for an All-Star Team Despite Concerns

Due to an injured right hand, New York Yankees outfielder Juan Soto was a late addition to the team’s lineup for their 8-1 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays on Sunday. He had missed the team’s defeat on Saturday.

It would make sense for Soto to miss the festivities leading up to the MLB All-Star Game in order to recover from his injury and be ready for the Yankees’ second half of the season.

However, according to MLB.com’s Bryan Hoch, Soto has no such plans:

“Despite his right hand injury, Juan Soto said he still intends to play in the All-Star Game.”

Soto provided a favorable report following the Yankees’ 5-4 defeat to the Tampa Bay Rays on Thursday, despite showing signs of pain throughout the game.

It is, in my opinion, better. The trainer has been doing a better job. Although it’s still hurting, I believe things have improved. Every day has its moments for me. It was really painful on the first day of the series, but things improved over the next two days.

In Friday’s 16–5 Yankees victory, Soto injured his hand sliding into home. When the Yankees returned to New York on Monday, he was supposed to have tests done on his hand; however, it was found that he was still eligible to play despite the pain.

New York Yankees outfielder Juan Soto (22) hits a solo home run against the Tampa Bay Rays in the third inning at Tropicana Field.

Next Tuesday is the MLB All-Star Game in Arlington, Texas. Monday through Thursday is off for the Yankees from their regular season schedule.

Juan Soto and the Yankees at a stalemate

“The organizational support to keep Soto may be even more solid (Brian Cashman and Co. gave up five pitchers for Soto),” says Jon Heyman of the New York Post. The stakes are higher, though, because Soto, who is five years Judge’s junior, is expected to ask for at least $500 million, if not $600 million.

It is to be assumed that Soto will be reluctant to negotiate during the season since he would rather not take attention away from it (plus, of course, the ability to select.) No star of that quality contracts months before they become free agents, let’s face it.

Judge was going to be a big part of the reunion if Soto decided to join with the Yankees again.

Soto and Judge would frequently get together before a game to plot their strategy for taking on the opposition pitcher. The former claims that he felt more at ease with the Yankees because of the kind greeting he got.

Soto described Judge as someone who “definitely tries to help me out.” You may chat to him and have a good time while playing the game. So far, it’s been enjoyable. For us, it’s been fantastic.

Regarding Judge and New York’s response to his first trade, Soto remarked, “He started talking with me to let me know how happy they are.” One thing that demonstrates who he is is that. Gerrit Cole and all those men that are contacting me are with us. That demonstrates to me how much they value me.
