Texas scores a major recruiting victory with a four-star athlete.

Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian has the Longhorns hot on the recruiting road, and they recently secured another huge victory.

Nick Townsend, a four-star athlete, is not just one of the most fascinating prospects in the 2025 class; he also signals a significant recruiting success.

Townsend’s offers include LSU, USC, Alabama, and Texas A&M.

Townsend is a pure athlete, standing 6 feet 3 and weighing 225 pounds. In fact, 247Sports ranks him as the No. 3 athlete in the 2025 class, citing his versatility to play tight end, linebacker, or perhaps EDGE at the next level. He will come to Texas as a tight end, and the Longhorns intend to play him there, but that has not stopped linebackers coach Johnny Nansen from showing interest in him.

Townsend has roughly 40 offers and a list of finalists that includes blueblood colleges, but the atmosphere that Sarkisian has developed at Texas appears to have won the big-time prospect over.

Texas Longhorns Coach David Pierce Suspended Two Games
“I stepped on campus and felt the energy when I pulled up for the official visit,” Townsend told me. “It was incredible; I felt the mood, the intensity, and the head coach came out to welcome me; it was simply insane and had a vibe that I didn’t receive at other institutions. And I believe they can make me larger, quicker, and stronger there, bringing me to the next level, and the crowd will go berserk. I believe the fans love me there, and I’ve never felt that way anyplace else.”

Texas fans have cause to be enthusiastic about Townsend and Sarkisian’s 2025 class.
