Breaking News: The Mavericks have made their final decision to sign a world-record-breaking high-profile star for $176 million today. Help Luka Doncic Win More Games

Dallas Mavericks guard Danté Exum is anticipated to lose some time due to a finger injury, but he will remain with the Australian Boomers for the 2024 Paris Olympics.

During the last friendly against France, the Australian dislocated his finger while driving into the lane. Exum instantly left the game and went to the locker room. Initially, Australia contemplated replacing Exum for the Olympics.
Scans indicated that Exum had a complex dislocation but no fracture. He is expected to compete in the Olympic Games.

“[Exum] suffered a compound dislocation of the right index finger during the game,” Anna Meares, the director of the Australian national team, told The Herald Sun.

“X-rays have confirmed that there was no fracture, and he is expected to continue on the path to compete at the Games,” she told me.

Dante Exum remains a major member of Australia’s bench, as does Josh Green, who was moved by the Mavericks to the Charlotte Hornets as part of a six-team sign-and-trade deal this summer.

The Dallas Mavericks approved Exum’s continued participation in the Olympics on Tuesday, according to ESPN.

According to sources, Exum is anticipated to lose time owing to his injury, rendering him uncertain for Australia’s Olympic opener against Spain. However, the Boomers’ medical staff is convinced that he will be able to continue with the team and perhaps return during the tournament’s group round.

This is Exum’s second injury worry in two days. He received a blow to the head during Saturday’s exhibition game against Puerto Rico, but was promptly cleared of any major injuries.

A critical component for the Australian men’s national basketball squad.
In his most recent official participation for the Australian national team in the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023, Dante Exum averaged 11.0 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 3.0 assists.

Exum was an important member of the Boomers squad that won bronze at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, and he was projected to be a key rotation player for Australia this season.

The Boomers have had a successful pre-Olympic warm-up, going 5-1 in their previous games under Brian Goorjian. They won over Serbia and France, with the single loss coming against Team USA.

Winning a nailbiter versus France.
The Australian men’s basketball team finished its preparations for the Paris 2024 Olympics with a dramatic 83-82 victory against hosts France on Sunday at the Co’Met Arena in Orleans.

With little over two seconds left, Australia trailed France by one point when Josh Giddey set up Dyson Daniels for the game-winning shot. Daniels, who has contributed significantly to Brian Goorjian’s team since joining the World Cup roster last year, concluded with 14 points, two rebounds, and five assists.

Captain Patty Mills led the Boomers against France with 24 points, two rebounds, and three assists, while Josh Giddey contributed 20 points, six rebounds, and eight assists.
