Priority 5-star Texas target Jonah Williams announces a commitment date.
The Texas Longhorns will not have to wait long to find out the fate of five-star safety Jonah Williams.

The Texas Longhorns still have a few top-tier targets available in the 2025 recruiting cycle.

One of the top targets in that group is five-star Ball (Galveston, TX) safety Jonah Williams, who is scheduled to visit the 40 Acres this weekend, along with a slew of other top prospects.

Fortunately, the Horns will not have to wait long after his visit to Austin to learn his choice.

According to On3 on Wednesday, Williams has set an August 24 commitment date and will select between Texas, Oregon, Texas A&M, LSU, and USC.

Williams is now ranked as the No. 10 player in America, the No. 1 safety in the country, and the No. 3 player in Texas, according to the On3 Industry Ranking.

Williams was a sensation on both sides of the ball last season as a junior, catching 20 passes for 474 yards and eight touchdowns while also running for 144 yards and two scores. On defense, he recorded 58 tackles, four for loss, and four interceptions. He also had three pick-sixes and scored on two punts and two kickoff returns.

Williams is also a high baseball prospect, with the Aggies near the top of his list due in large part to his admiration for incoming Texas coach Jim Schlossnagle.

Now that the Horns have Schlossnagle on board, their prospects of securing the five-star rating should improve.

Texas currently does not have a commitment from a safety prospect, however four-star cornerback recruit Kade Phillips is expected to be able to play that position at the next level.
