Series recap: Texas Rangers vs. Chicago White Sox 7/22-7/25

The Texas Rangers completed their seven-game homestand with a four-game series against the Chicago White Sox at Globe Life Field. From Monday to Thursday, Texas and Chicago faced off in a simple series, with the Rangers sweeping the White Sox for their sixth consecutive victory. Read on for more information.

On Monday night, the Rangers defeated the White Sox 4-3 in the ninth inning to start the series. Texas improved to 48–52, while Chicago dropped to 27–75. Michael Lorenzen, the Rangers’ starting pitcher, worked five innings and allowed six hits, two earned runs, two walks, and eight strikeouts. Meanwhile, White Sox starting pitcher Erick Fedde went 6 1/3 innings, allowing three hits, two earned runs, two walks, and five strikeouts.

The White Sox immediately scored in the top of the first inning. Tommy Pham homered on a fly ball to center field to take a fast 1-0 lead. The Rangers knotted the game 1-1 in the bottom of the third inning. Marcus Semien connected on a line drive to left field to tie the score 1-1. The White Sox seized the lead in the top of the fourth inning.

Brooks Baldwin reached on a line drive to Adolis Garcia. Andrew Vaughn scored, making the score 2-1. Nicky Lopez moved to third base. The Rangers knotted the game at two each in the bottom of the fifth inning. Leody Taveras homered to right center field, tying the game 2-2.

The White Sox seized a lead in the top of the ninth inning. Paul DeJong homered on a fly ball to left field to make the score 3-2. However, the Rangers knotted the game at three each in the bottom of the ninth inning, forcing extra innings.

Jonah Heim connected on a ground ball to Luis Robert Jr. Wyatt Langford scored, tying the game 3-3. Nathaniel Lowe moved to third base. The Rangers scored the winning run in the bottom of the tenth inning. Wyatt Langford reached on a line drive to Andrew Benintendi. Travis Jankowski scored, making the score 4-3. Corey Seager went to third base, while Josh Smith went to second.
