Auburn’s 2025 recruiting class’s youthful talent expresses their commitment to the Tigers in three words:

Anquon Fegans, better known by his stage moniker “Newboy,” reached beneath the table to get a white Auburn hat, but he shook his head and tossed it aside.

After briefly shocking the audience in Birmingham on Monday night when he announced his college pledge, the four-star Thompson safety reached back beneath the table and came out with another Auburn hat, this one that he had managed to get on his head.

Fegans, the nation’s ninth-ranked safety and Alabama’s ninth-ranked prospect, wasn’t trying to make fun of the Tigers with his hat trick; rather, he was just trying to lighten the mood.

After his commitment ceremony, Fegans informed reporters, “I knew it was Auburn like maybe a month ago.”

Despite Fegans’s long-standing preference for Hugh Freeze and the Tigers, balloons representing his three other finalists—Clemson, Georgia, and LSU—were present during the celebration on Monday.

Fegans said in a live stream to On3 Sports that he could talk endlessly about his preferences for each of his finalists prior to making his declaration.

But in Auburn’s case, it was all quite straightforward.

“It was the location,” Fegans said to the press. “There is something unique about Auburn. It is my responsibility to take what Coach Freeze brings to The Plains and make it even more remarkable than it already is.

And with their recent tear on the recruiting road, Freeze and Auburn’s coaching staff have made it very clear that they’re attempting to create something truly remarkable.

Fegans’ promise on Monday night, which followed Auburn’s enormously successful Big Cat Weekend recruiting extravaganza, made him the sixth prospect to commit to the Tigers in just three days.

Three 2026 pledges were obtained by Auburn early on Saturday, two 2025 Alabama prospects were traded on Saturday night and Monday afternoon, and Fegans was acquired on Monday night.

Auburn’s 2025 recruiting class is now ranked No. 5 in 247Sports’ team rankings thanks to Fegans’ commitment.

Before the last weekend, Auburn’s class of 2025 wasn’t even in the top 10.

Furthermore, the Tigers might not be finished yet.
