Unexpected News for LSU Football: A Young, Highly Skilled Star Resigns From Football Record

The tight end room at LSU Football is one of the places that has pleased everyone thus far throughout camp. Although Mac Markway, Ka’Morreun Pimpton, and Trey’Dez Green offer the group a great deal of depth and variety, Mason Taylor is undoubtedly the leader of the group.

But on Tuesday, when Mac Markway announced his departure from the LSU football team, the room received a startling blow. Brian Kelly provided the following statement to the media:

His choice to not play has been made. I’m not sure if he will transfer or what his plans are.”

Kelly went on to say that the news shocks him even though he is unsure of Markway’s plans, whether or not to transfer. Markway appeared in 12 games as a true freshman, including one start, and caught three receptions for 16 yards and a score when Mason Taylor was out with an injury. His talent will be missed by the Tigers, as he might have been an important component of their passing and rushing assaults.

Prior to the season, it appeared like Mac Markway was Mason Taylor’s backup tight end, however both would get a lot of action as the younger receivers develop.

LSU’s tight end group is one of its strongest.

The LSU football team is certainly hurt by Mac Markway’s loss, especially considering that he was only about to enter his sophomore year. LSU’s tight end room will remain strong once he leaves, especially as talented guys like Green and Pimpton advance up the depth chart. While Green’s height and quickness make him a matchup nightmare and a valuable element for Joe Sloan and this team, Pimpton has excelled throughout summer camp.
