John Coleman’s ten-year stewardship came to an unexpected end Wednesday, March 3, when the League Two team lost 4-0 to Wrexham. Doolan has now been appointed temporarily and has assumed the post of first-team coach.

Chris Scholes, head of sports science and performance, and goalkeeping coach Andy Dibble will assist him. On Saturday, March 9, when Accrington plays Bradford City, Doolan will be in the dugout.
“I have been asked to assume leadership at the club, and I will do my best,” he declared. I want to encourage all of the supporters to support the club as they normally do on Saturday, since my first priority is now Bradford City.”

Doolan has extensive coaching experience, having held positions at Hibernian and Wigan Athletic in the past. Having worked with Alan Stubbs at the Millers, he is therefore no stranger to Yorkshire.

He joined the coaching staff that helped Accrington win League Two in 2018 and has been with the club since 2017.

Accrington has played two more games than Bradford City, who are presently in 15th position in the League Two standings, and are tied for 16th place.
