Positive NewsBreaking: Detroit Lions release wide receiver and sign quarterback despite preseason injury

Hendon Hooker had a concussion during the Lions’ preseason game against the New York Giants, as was previously reported on GH. Dan Campbell, the head coach, expressed uncertainty about Hooker’s length of stay in the concession protocol:

Indeed, he had a concussion; as a result, he is clearly following protocol and will be assessed. I have no idea how long it will last. That must have been his bell ringing, as far as I’m aware. Though it’s understandable that we would have preferred to spend more time with him, things do happen. There must have been one of his runs when he received it.

The Lions waived injured wide receiver Antonie Green, according to a team statement. In the seventh round of the 2023 NFL Draft, Green was chosen by the Lions. Last season, he had one catch for two yards.

Ike Boettger, an offensive lineman, was released by the Lions. In July, he became a Lions member.

Ty Summers, a linebacker, signed with the Lions. In the seventh round of the 2019 NFL Draft, Summers was chosen by the Green Bay Packers. In all, he has made 60 tackles. He was a player for the New Orleans Saints and Jacksonville Jaguars.
