Over the past several seasons, the Green Bay Packers have let go of a lot of important players. The news was undoubtedly dominated by the trades of Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams in consecutive off-seasons. However, the Packers parted ways with a handful of veterans throughout the 2023 off-season and season.
This off-season, one of those veterans signed a brand-new contract.
Today, the Bills are taking action to avoid paying the salary cap.
The Bills want to renegotiate cornerback Rasul Douglas’ contract in addition to removing safety Jordan Poyer, offensive tackle Mitch Morse, and cornerback Siran Neal.
The move will save the Bills around $2.5 million against their cap, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Following his trade from Green Bay, Douglas appeared in nine games, starting eight of them. For Buffalo, he finished with four interceptions, eight passes defensed, 29 tackles, and a sack.

Given the Packers’ depleted secondary at the time, there was some criticism around the transaction. As luck would have it, after one off-season, the secondary is still one of the Packers’ most pressing issues.
Douglas established himself as a starter in a gifted secondary right away and began making plays for the Bills’ defense.
This offseason, the Bills made the decision to part ways with a number of defensive backs, but they weren’t going to let the 29-year-old defense go.
