Top edge rusher Uchenna Nwosu of the Seattle Seahawks has a damaged MCL and is anticipated to miss two to six weeks, an ESPN source informed Adam Schefter on Monday.

In a trade with the Jacksonville Jaguars earlier on Monday, the Seahawks added outside linebacker Trevis Gipson to their roster, increasing depth at the position. The Jaguars will get a 2025 sixth-round selection in return, a source said Michael DiRocco of ESPN.

During the first drive of the preseason finale on Saturday, Nwosu was injured after Cleveland Browns guard Wyatt Teller struck him with a low block. Nwosu limped off the pitch, went into the medical tent for a few minutes, and had his knee wrapped with ice before being tested.

In addition to losing Nwosu for the first four games of the season should he be placed on injured reserve, Seattle also parted ways with another outside linebacker on Friday when they sent Darrell Taylor to the Chicago Bears in exchange for a 2025 sixth-round pick.

In 48 career games over four seasons, Gipson, 27, has 11 sacks, including seven with Chicago in 2021. He signed a one-year, $1.3 million contract with Jacksonville in March, with just $42,500 guaranteed.

Gipson was expected to be a backup pass rusher for Josh Hines-Allen, Travon Walker, and Arik Armstead by the Jaguars, but they were afforded some flexibility with the arrival of veteran D.J. Jacksonville coach Doug Pederson stated on Monday, “You’re obviously going to listen when other teams have needs and you have good players.” “I believe that Trevor is in a good situation, and he has done an excellent job for us.” Both the team he is joining and our remuneration are in a strong position. It benefits both parties. It allows him to play, and we have nothing but the finest intentions for him.”

In 2020, the Bears selected Gipson in the fifth round; he played with the Tennessee Titans the previous season.
