Sheffield Wednesday emerged from the Championship relegation zone over the weekend, having had a successful weekend.
Sheffield Wednesday’s thrilling 2-1 victory over Coventry City allowed them to escape the relegation zone by taking advantage of many mistakes made by their opponents.

When the Owls departed the field just before five o’clock on Saturday, they were doubly happy because they had learned that some outcomes had gone their way elsewhere. At home against Oxford United, Portsmouth had high expectations to snap a bad run of results. However, with just over 25 minutes remaining, Louie Sibley’s equalizer cancelled out Mark Mahoney’s, and John Mousinho’s team could only muster a draw. As the last ten minutes drew near, Mousinho surprised some by choosing to substitute his goal scorer for Harvey Blair. However, the Pompey manager has now explained why he made such a tough choice.

“Mark tired towards the end of the game, he slightly felt his groin as well, so we needed to bring him off,” Ousinho said to The News. Even though I didn’t want to, during halftime, something was noted. We probably could have done without him for a little longer. I’m pretty happy with him since he has never had the physical output that he has had during the previous week. The only thing that disappointed Mark was that he didn’t score more, but he handled his goal incredibly nicely.

winger Djeidi Gassama of the Owls canceled out Jack Rudoni’s first-half goal, and Shea Charles’ injury-time goal won them a 2-1 victory against Coventry on Wednesday, boosting their own prospects of at least maintaining their second-tier status. Danny Rohl’s team will go into the international break four points above the drop zone thanks to the victory and other outcomes. Curtis Nelson and Marcus Harness goals condemned Queens Park Rangers to a 2-0 loss against Derby County, sending them into the relegation zone.

After losing 2-0 to Sheffield United, Luton Town is now one point and one spot above the bottom three. Millwall, on the other hand, is just barely above the relegation zone following their goalless draw with West Bromwich Albion. After a hard-fought draw against Swansea City, Stoke City leads by three points. Meanwhile, Wayne Rooney’s Plymouth Argyle won their third straight game, defeating Blackburn Rovers 2-1 at home behind a stunning goal from Morgan Whittaker in injury time.
