According to a report, the Cleveland Browns have now agreed to a crazy deal to send their star playmaker to the Dallas Cowboys.
After their 2024 season collapsed against the Dallas Cowboys in Week One, the Cleveland Browns are currently in full rebuild mode. The two clubs may now deal in the next weeks.
After a 1-6 start to the season, Cleveland has nothing left to play for, and one of its best playmakers may be traded.
The Athletic’s Mike Jones and Jeff Howe posted a piece titled “Six NFL trades we’d like to see: Nick Chubb to Cowboys, Maxx Crosby to Lions.”
Jones and Howe believe this move makes sense since the two had running back Nick Chubb dealt to the Cowboys for a 2025 third-round selection and a 2025 sixth-round pick.
In terms of yards per attempt, touchdowns, and running yards, the Cowboys rank worst. Why? due to the fact that they are the 30th try. Mike McCarthy hasn’t demonstrated much dedication to the ground game, and they lack the necessary staff. Due to their total lack of balance, three of their games have ended prematurely. Jerry Jones, the owner of the star power squad, adores Chubb. With Chubb only recovering from a serious knee injury, there is a risk, but if he finishes the season as a top-10 back, the return could be enormous. Given how he was greeted on his season debut, the Browns would be devastated to part with such a significant member of their team. After the fan base turned against quarterback Deshaun Watson, they presumably don’t want to face the negative publicity, but Watson’s contract is going to put a significant strain on their finances. After the season, Chubb, who turns 29 in December, will be a free agency, and with cap gymnastics on the horizon, it will be difficult to maintain a high-paid running back on the roster. The Browns should seriously explore picking a quarterback, whether they are ready to acknowledge it or not, and the additional third-round pick would help with that effort.
Since Chubb is one of the few players the fans still adore and he feels the same way, the Browns would be insane to trade him.
Despite becoming a free agency this offseason, the Browns appear to want the talented running back back, who played his first game since breaking up his knee in Week Two of the 2023 season, last weekend.
It would make sense for Cleveland to receive a third-round selection in exchange for Chubb since the team has to rebuild its whole squad. The wisest course of action for the team would be to keep Chubb and try to sign him for a long-term contract since he may still have three to five more productive football years remaining and, given the Browns, they would squander the draft selection anyhow.
In a recent trade, the Cleveland Browns part ways with their fan favorite (Report).
