After dismissing Mike Houston, East Carolina football confronts a crucial quarterback choice in Week 9.
Ahead of a pivotal game against Temple, East Carolina football is trying to make a big impression. On October 20, the program fired head coach Mike Houston, and they are now changing the offense. According to ESPN’s Pete Thamel, the Pirates will start redshirt sophomore Katin Houser at quarterback in Week 9 after an unimpressive showing against Army.
There is a different kind of enthusiasm and hope that the squad will be able to better control the result of games with interim head coach Blake Harrell leading the charge. The Pirates are keen to win and show that they are a superior squad than Temple, who had a 2-5 record on Saturday.
With a less intimidating schedule of games against FAU and Tulsa coming up, Houser will have an opportunity to establish himself as the team’s starter for the rest of the season.
In Week 9, Katin Houser will make her East Carolina football debut.
Houser completed 38 of 69 throws for 416 yards, three touchdowns, and two interceptions in his three games for East Carolina this season. The rest of the coaching staff was sufficiently inspired by his strong performance against Army in Week 8 to see what he might accomplish in a more advantageous position.
