Will Venable is the official manager of the Chicago White Sox.
Chicago Will Venable was formally named the new manager of the Chicago White Sox on Thursday.

In the history of the franchise, Venable is the 44th manager. The 42-year-old has been with the Texas Rangers as an associate manager for the last two seasons.

“This is a great opportunity with a White Sox organization that is putting a lot of good things into place and laying a solid foundation for the future,” Venable stated in a release. “Being a part of that effort to assist return to the kind of baseball that White Sox fans are accustomed to witnessing is thrilling. In addition to individuals that put in a lot of effort each day, we are looking for intelligent baseball players who are aware of the subtleties of the game. I’m eager to contribute in any way I can since our community has a great history and deserves to win baseball.

Since his debut as a player in 2008, Venable has been a member of the Major Leagues. Venable has played for the Los Angeles Dodgers, Texas Rangers, and San Diego Padres over his nine-year career.

Venable concluded his playing career with 81 home runs, 307 RBI, and 135 stolen bases. He was a lifetime.249 hitter.

However, his coaching expertise is what makes his résumé stand out.

Venable was coached by Bruce Bouchy, Alex Cora, and Joe Maddon. He had his initial coaching experiences in Chicago, therefore he knows the city well.

Theo Epstein, the president of the Chicago Cubs, appointed Venable as a special assistant in 2017. Venable was the Cubs’ first base coach in 2018 and 2019. For the 2020 campaign, he was promoted to third-base coach.
