As they will be without him, the Chargers coach gives a positive injury update on another top player.

The Los Angeles Chargers improved to 7-3 on the season with an incredible victory in Week 11 after defeating the Cincinnati Bengals in a late-game rally. In Week 12, the Chargers take on the Baltimore Ravens, another formidable NFC North opponent. However, with All-Pro pass rusher Khalil Mack expected to play on Monday night, Los Angeles should have some defensive support.

Mack informed reporters that he looks forward to facing the Ravens. Daniel Popper of The Athletic reported on X that he stated, “I’m not practicing for nothing.” Mack said he was “pretty close” to participating but “didn’t want another setback like the week before” after missing the Chargers’ Week 11 game due to a groin issue.

Due to a groin ailment that held him out of practice all last week, the 11-year veteran didn’t seem very close to participating in Week 11. Mack was eventually disqualified from the Chargers’ Sunday Night Football game against the Bengals. This week, he managed to come back to practice, attending a few sessions on Thursday and Friday before starting a full practice on Saturday.

Oct 27, 2024; Inglewood, California, USA; Los Angeles Chargers linebacker Khalil Mack (52) forces New Orleans Saints quarterback Jake Haener (3) to throw an incomplete pass in the second half at SoFi Stadium.

Khalil Mack will be back for the Chargers’ MNF game against the Ravens.

In Week 10, the eight-time Pro Bowl player did start against the Tennessee Titans, but he was forced to leave early due to injury after only four snaps. Mack missed his first game since the Chargers acquired him in a 2022 deal with the Chicago Bears in Week 11. Mack has started every game since having season-ending foot surgery in 2021 until last Sunday.

Mack has recorded 26 total tackles, 12 solo takedowns, 4.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, and five passes defended in nine Chargers games this season. The 33-year-old veteran is third on the club in sacks and will be a huge asset to LA’s defense when they play the explosive Ravens offense, even though he will basically miss two games in 2024.

On Monday night, Jim Harbaugh, the head coach of the Chargers, will play his brother John for the third time. John has dominated the sibling rivalry, albeit with a very tiny sample size, because Jim hasn’t yet defeated his brother. After the 2012 season, when Jim Harbaugh was coaching the San Francisco 49ers, the two most recently faced off in Super Bowl XLVII. The Ravens prevailed 34–31.
