Baltimore Orioles breaking news:::: Recently, two sensationally talented Orioles players who rejected a contract offer have confirmed their departure and signed with the White Sox.

The Baltimore Orioles brought up top prospect Coby Mayo on Friday to play against the Cleveland Guardians in his main league debut.

After spending 77 games in Triple-A Norfolk, Mayo had a fantastic season, hitting.301 with 20 home runs, 61 RBIs, and leading the International League in slugging percentage (.586). He was scheduled to bat seventh against the Guardians and play third base at the age of 22.

Upon arriving to Progressive Field, Mayo recalled writing in the first grade that he aspired to play in the major leagues. “The dream comes true when the game begins.”

All-Star third baseman Jordan Westburg was placed on the 10-day disabled list on Thursday due to a fractured right hand. Mayo, who was selected in the fourth round of the 2020 MLB Draft, was elevated to take his position.

Mayo was told by manager Brandon Hyde not to let the situation put too much pressure on her. Mayo would be the starting third baseman, he said.

“I don’t want him to take Jordan Westburg’s place. All I want is for Coby to be himself,” Hyde stated. “To be on a winning team, not to try too hard to contribute too much.”

The 6-foot-5, 230-pound Mayo has participated in all five levels of Baltimore’s minor league system and has a.286 batting average across 378 minor league games.

The Orioles were two games behind the AL-leading Guardians and tied for first place in the AL East with the New York Yankees. To make place for Mayo, infielder Livan Soto was assigned to Norfolk.
