In a recent game against the San Francisco Giants, Manny Machado tied the franchise home run record, continuing to make history for the San Diego Padres. Machado tied Nate Colbert’s record of 163 home runs as a Padre in a 5-1 victory with his home run. Machado remarked,
“It’s a special accomplishment,” according to Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune. Of course, being a part of it is an honor. .. Doing it in front of my home crowd was my goal. It’s much more wonderful when you can do it at home because they deserve it.
” Machado’s effort was vital since he helped to seal the victory by hitting home runs in the first and eighth innings. His efforts are much appreciated by the squad, especially with the absence of several important players. Machado stated, “We knew a couple guys are down in the bullpen,” addressing Tanner Scott, Jason Adam, and Robert Suarez. “So we needed to put some runs on the board.
” Michael King, a pitcher who also had a great effort and gave up only one run in six innings, complimented Machado on his ability to affect games. “I mean, he’s Manny Machado, so, like all of it’s very much expected,” King remarked. “Watching him hit after I pitch has been enjoyable. His alteration of games is evident.”

Now that they are in the top Wild Card place and only four games behind the Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League West, the Padres are in a stronger position going into the postseason. Machado has continued to have a strong season.274 batting average, 89 RBIs,
