Over the weekend, there were many encouraging remarks in response to the sad season-ending injury suffered by Chicago Sky star Angel Reese. Prior to the Indiana Fever’s Sunday afternoon game against the Atlanta Dream, Reese received some sweet comments from fellow rookie Caitlin Clark and other WNBA players. This WNBA season, Clark and Reese have squared off four times, with Clark’s Fever taking three of the contests. Although the two rookies have a lengthy history together, going back to their time at Iowa and LSU, Clark only had kind things to say about her old college adversary.
“It’s definitely sad anytime you see anyone go down with an injury, especially people that you came into this league with, whether it’s Cam [Brink], whether it’s Angel,” Clark said. You want to see Angel, in particular, finish this year. She’s obviously had an amazing year and accomplished some amazing things. Playing against her, in my opinion, is a pleasure since she has one of the finest motors in the game and never stops working.”Congrats to her; I felt that she had an amazing year. In my opinion, she entered the league and performed admirably, continuing a career she had started when I first met her. Therefore, it’s heartbreaking and never what you want to see from a player.”

Due to a wrist injury, Reese revealed on Saturday that she will miss the remainder of the WNBA season. Reese posted, “What a year,” on X, the previous Twitter platform. “I never thought my rookie season would end with a three, but perhaps God was telling me to give them a taste of what they can expect to see more of in year two.I’ll still be the greatest fan on the sidelines, I promise! And Unrivaled League, I’ll talk to you shortly.” Reese had recorded 34 games with multiple double-doubles and career-high rebounds when she was injured. For her part, Clark hopes to add to the history made by the WNBA when she plays the Dream on Sunday. The Fever have won seven of their past nine games and have already secured their spot in the playoffs.
