Eintracht Frankfurt could be on the verge of losing one of their long-serving defensive stalwarts, as 25-year-old Brazilian center-back Tuta is reportedly in advanced negotiations with La Liga side Real Betis. According to Spanish outlet Estadio Deportivo, the Andalusian club is eager to bring in the versatile defender ahead of the 2025–26 campaign, with discussions well underway.
A change of scenery has been on the cards for Tuta for some time. The São Paulo native has spent nearly his entire professional career in Frankfurt, arriving from São Paulo FC in 2019 and growing into a dependable fixture in the back line. He stepped up notably after the retirement of club captain David Abraham in early 2021, becoming a cornerstone in the team’s defensive unit.
Tuta’s Bundesliga breakthrough came in memorable fashion during the 2020/21 season. He netted a dramatic late equalizer against RB Leipzig on Matchday 10 — a goal that proved vital in easing pressure on then-head coach Oliver Glasner and setting the tone for his rise at the club.
Since then, Tuta has made 186 appearances for Frankfurt in all competitions, scoring 10 goals and establishing a reputation as a reliable, ball-playing defender with occasional midfield deployment. His development has seen his market value rise to an estimated €15 million.
However, with his contract set to expire in June 2026, Eintracht may be tempted to cash in now rather than risk losing him on a free transfer next summer. Real Betis have reportedly tabled an initial €8 million bid — below Frankfurt’s expected asking price of at least €12 million. But with negotiations progressing and the player’s apparent openness to a move, a deal could be struck in the coming weeks.
Should the transfer materialize, Tuta would bring youth, European experience, and positional flexibility to a Betis side aiming to solidify its backline and remain competitive in both La Liga and European competition.
For Frankfurt, it could mark the end of a chapter, as they look to retool their squad and potentially invest in younger talent or reinforcements elsewhere on the pitch. Either way, Tuta’s departure would close a significant chapter in a successful stint with Die Adler — one that began in relative obscurity and blossomed into a key role in Frankfurt’s modern era.
